It's going to be hell for the next 13 days. Because the performance is the saturday after next. And nothing is looking fine yet. Scolded by the seniors, scolded by the graduating seniors, scolded scolded scolded. But I guess all of us at huangcheng know that the scolding is all for our own good. Like our president says, people are paying more than 10 dollars per ticket to watch our performance, so if we let them down, we let the school and the tradition down.
Gah. All this stress is getting to my head. I have a headache and a fever and I'm getting dizzy. But that's not the point. The point is that I have a story to tell.
There was once a green bean. In the land of beans he was in, he was very good friends with a particular one. Or he tried to be good friends with a red bean. Of course, the green bean had other friends, but none of them knew him as much as the red bean did, so the green bean could not talk to them if he had any problems. The green bean tried everything in his power to befriend the red bean, but the red bean was too occupied with his other friends to even bother about this green bean, so he just let this green bean hang around him just because he was too lazy to chase him away. Whenever the red bean was upset, the green bean was visibly worried and often tried to show his concern for him, but always was ignored in favour of the red bean's other friends. Whenever the red bean was happy, however, the green bean would be very happy, irregardless of why the red bean was happy. Often it had nothing to do with the green bean, but the green bean would just be happy to see the red bean happy. So it went on, the green bean caring for the red bean, and the red bean not bothering about the green bean.
Is there a point in the green bean's existence? Since the red bean has lots of other beans to care for him, what can this one green bean provide?
Is this a meaningless pursuit?
Forgive me, I'm feeling pensive today.

hmm it has been almost 2 months already and i think everyone has been more or less comfortable with the class now. some people may be thinking of a change of combi and i dont really know what you guys are thinking about now but what i feel is that its best that you guys still try to enjoy whatever you are studying now ( or bingo-ing around ^.^ ) and enjoy the last few weeks in S6A! =)
personally i would prefer to have the bbq instead of crystal jade. bbq is much more interactive than just having a dinner at a rest. dont think about the cost, think about the fun instead. =) and bbq isnt that bad what. all the cooking and chatting and smoke. even though most of the time the food will be charred and sometimes uncooked. =)
but still, BBQ ROCKS! anyway since you guys chose crystal jade, dont 放 cherngyo 鸽子!

ct session today was pretty packed. content wise. and i must say that some of the things that were brought up were pretty thought provoking. saw many in my civics class nodding... but not in agreement. ha :)
anyway, this really brings back memories!
when i was in secondary school, there was compulsory CIP (as is the case today) and basically, we went to various children's/old folks' homes. the thing about these visits is that we only went to each home once. it was pretty much touch and go. my deepest memory was a children's home we visited. we put up a skit for the children and we had a whale of a time preparing for it. it was the story of the "3 little pigs", and all of us who acted were really camping it up and enjoying the process. i guess for us then, it's probably another one of those "official" events which gave us a legitimate excuse to just fool around... the children enjoyed it of course and it bonded us as a class.
in jc, i joined interact club in my second year. i remember that we went to this hospice to visit the sickly elderly. we had programme lined up for them and it was basically to sing chinese oldies like "yue liang dai biao wo de xin". so we went, a whole busload of us, waiting to execute the activities we had planned, like the bright-eyed task driven perfect over-achievers that we were. when we began singing the songs we had prepared (preparations meaning last minute revision on the bus-ride to the place), one of the residents told us to stop singing. we were pretty shocked because, like hello? do we sound that bad? are the windows breaking? but more so because, well, we knew at the bottom of our hearts that we didn't have anything else planned... and worse of all, most of us could not speak dialect. in terms of the ability to hold a decent conversation, many of us were inadequate. i can speak hakka but most elderly understand only teochew or hokkien, of which i speak nor even understand neither. upon hindsight, it must be really annoying for the people at the hospice (or any other homes for that matter) to have different groups of students swarm in on them every other day, insisting on singing the same old songs, with the same old uncertainty. the awkward silences. never moving beyond "have you eaten". never seeing the same face again. what is the point of such visits? really. who are we helping? are we merely assuaging our conscience? telling ourselves that, hey, i am a good person. i do cip...?
in university, i joined mentoring. basically we had secondary school students as our mentees, and we were supposed to help them in their studies and to counsel them. it was a weekly affair for a year. through this, i formed fast friends with the mentors assigned to the same school. after my year of mentoring ended, the bunch of us still helped out with planning the programme for year-end camps for a few more years. through the constant interaction with these youths, i have learnt patience and to never give up. when you really care for someone, your actions will naturally speak of this concern. the hope that the person will fulfill his/her potential, not for anyone/anything, but solely for him/herself. because he/she is capable of it. it is important to constantly care becaue, i believe, when you start to care less, one tends to become careless with one's words and actions...
an amazing thing (cliched as it is) about helping others is that in the end, you are the one who benefits the most. not in a condescending oh-my-gawd-i'm-helping-the-less-fortunate-i-should-be-so-glad-i'm-not-them way, but in the way that because of the interaction, you see yourself more clearly, you see others more clearly, you learn about life around you, beyond you...
i'm sure many among you have actively volunteered at some point in your life. so, keep up the good work! :) those who are interested should sign up for the citibank-ymca youths 4 causes. if not, you can always be a part of the various activities cip has lined up for the school :)

Hey guys, i finally figured out how to work this. Well, first day of school. The air was so sleepy haha! Anyhow, its been a good couple of days off school and i just found out March holidays are just round the corner too :)
The past day has been terribly emo, its not that everything has gone bad but one @#!&^*% incident did occur that has really put me off. The world is so ostentatiously designed, vile rogues walk the street. Its not safe, nobody's safe. haha, ok im not that emo.
Its been great having all you guys as classmates i really appreciate every one of you & everything you have done. 6A's the sex! See you guys in school.

Haha yay school reopened! (okay I know that sounds fake, but hear me out!)
See, 大年初一头一天，家家户户过新年, so there pretty much wasn't anything to do on Sunday besides go around, eat lots, take angpaos and have lovely, wizened old ladies ask when I'm getting married.
And on Monday, everything was lovely and BORING and I stayed home to do my bio homework. How conscientious. And boring.
And then yesterday, I went for 团拜 with the 黄城 people which was positively fun and everything, but there was something MISSING for the whole four days (including Saturday)!

i am typing this with visitors at my house and the comp is just behind the living room but heck it. =)
i dont really have much to say actually. first a BIG THANKYOU to andrea for coordinating the class stall when i couldnt attend to it myself, kunyang who onehandedly handled the banner. he is the most arts-inclined guy in our class. lefthanders are smart. =) and also to chin yun who brought 3 pieces of stick-and-submit lanterns which somehow settled the lantern submission for our class. ok its my bad not to handle that earlier but thats not the point. =) 我要给你们一个很大的谢谢! (direct and bad translation...)

Wow i think we did really well on friday. We earned money from the cny stall and almost the whole class went out for the athena fac dance. Honestly i dint expect the stall to earn money although i thought the idea was pretty good. Thanks to all the hardworking people who manned the stall and got their hands full of milo and oreo.
And hopefully 6A will really have alot of fun as a class and that we'll continue to be friends even if we have to split into different classes.
We have a really long break so have fun and relax. But dont forget to do some work on tuesday night people...

Tomorrow is the day where we finally put all our hard work - REALLY HARD WORK - to the test with the annual CNY Faculty Dance Competition (where we know already that Athena will maintain her current lead in the Faculty Shield race) but we still need all Athenians to jiayous! Liew Qi, Athena Dance I/C, has requested that S6A (both 07 and 06) dance right in front just behind the Fac Comm because our class has one of the highest number of people who know how to execute the dance.
Today i stayed after dance session to watch a little bit of Apollo. And come on, there's no big deal about Apollo... Hahaz! Athena can do it! There ain't no other fac like Athena!

guess im the first senior to post here haha.
first of all SORRY if we are a bit [maybe very] dao. haha i guess maybe because we havent really interacted well enough during the smj in week 2. REALLY REALLY SORRY. [ok i'll try to talk to u all more haha] maybe we can eat dinner together [as in senior n junior class] tomoro before dramefest. [but i don think alot of ppl in my class going] hahahaha.

Oh, when you go for huangcheng right, please try not to focus solely on the actors. Take some time off to appreciate the nice costumes, the speedy costume changes, the beautifully made props (which are built by some of the most uncouth people I have ever seen) and the very very impressive sounds and lights. We do work too, and although we aren't the main focus of the show, it's very saddening when you only hear people talk about the frontstage stuff. i hope everyone is enjoying their jc life so far because i am LOVING every single bit of it. =)
its cool to have some people you can always rely on for different stuff like justin, guo yean, kunyang for sports or yikai, erm kunyang again for studies and not forgetting the rest of the class who will always be there to cheer you up! =) and i guess everyone is now comfortable with one another, always forming small conversations whenever we meet somewhere somehow sometime. just saying hi can be really fun too. =)
school work isnt getting to me yet (maybe because i havent really been doing my work conscientiously lately :D) well its still early to get into the mugging mood. sports first, mug later. =) and lets hope that boon yeow will be able to make it into hcjc with his marvellous fabulous L1R5! =) and guys please appreciate what our senior class does for us k. that remark on the green board was really mean.
i think 07s6a is rather passive as compared to other CT's. we need to crap more during class man. even though that may disrupt lessons abit but i guess that will definitely spice up our study life a great deal! right? =)
o ya we will be painting our class banner tmr before dramafesta and anyone who wants to help out can choose to pop by and offer your service! i dont think we need 26 people to work on a single banner. =) and we still have a lantern to be done which is due sometime soon or ago . dont worry. at least we dont have a class skit to be troubled with. =)

wee! i finish drama feste at like.. 10pm... lolx. home sweet home. NOT!.

Ehhh please forgive me if this post becomes crappy because I haven't been blogging on Blogger for a very long time and uh I'm just not used to it. Anyway.
WHY ISN'T OUR MILO DINOSAUR APPROVED ):
My ex-class made a lot of money last year selling milo dinosaur, and everyone said it was good! Oh well, it's gonna be the consumers' loss (think Econs HAHA), not ours but now we've got to crack our brains for a new idea...and I have none, oops sorry!
Considering that there are too many people selling drinks, does that mean we have to sell food in the end? Or shall we just stick to the games only? I think if we have to sell food, finger food would be most convenient and practical? Stuff like uh nuggets, fishballs etc? I've observed those to be quite popular in previous fun fairs (:
And regarding the derivation of pleasure from work thing..Haha I agree, I think gaining satisfaction from a job well done is pure heaven (better than shopping haha) Knowing all your blood sweat and tears have been worth it erases all painful memories from the preparation process..
Oh well I was looking forward to SMJ but now it's cancelled, sigh. (I'm NOT trying to make the seniors feel bad here) But that's okay cause we have Dramafeste coming up this week as well and I think it's going to be good! I hope Athena wins! But we won't get to see them reveal the results, rawr.

Like Beatrice, I'm gna advertise the saga seed bottles and ice cream! It's worth it really, everyone's put in a lot of effort for the publicity, preparation and all so do support us! Besides, it's economical since it's not expensive at all (One scoop of ice-cream is merely $1, compared to ice cream shops outside it's dirt cheap) And for the saga seed bottles, they just look very sweet, right? (: The bottles are cute, the seeds are cute, they're worth it man.

Oh oh oh and I heard that there were 15 classes who offered to sell bubble tea. Hmm, I wonder why we were rejected. Hahaha we can blindfold people and make them pop balloons that their friends toss to them. Okay nevermind that was completely lame. Let someone more creative (and with more common sense) think. (:
Hm. I think that I might not be able to make it for SMJA. For one, I've been out until very late for the wholeeeee week. And secondly, I haven't touched my econs project. Yes I know that lot's of effort has been put into planning it, but if I really don't stay home for tomorrow at least, I think mummy will kick me out of the house.

I love CIP and doing random stuff like sawing wood and sewing velcro and other completely random things (like painting flags and banners <3). In fact, I wanted to do an SL project, but I suck at coming up with ways to do stuff, so I'll probably stick to good ole CIP.
Oh. The dance I/Cs have finished teaching the athena dance! And it's really quite fun to just groove along to the music. Everybody pleaseeeeee put in the effort to learn the dance. It's fun. I promise. (heeheehee)

and and and SMJA IS THIS SUNDAY, 4TH FEBRAURY, 6PM AT CITY HALL MRT! PLEASE PLEASE GO! since its already so belated as compared to some other CT's... anyway i suppose we will be having dinner and maybe movie if they feel like it? it would be a good time to have fun as a senior/junior class too! so please please PLEASE try to make it if you can. at least now there wont be anymore excuses of not being able to wake up. =)
hey kunyang its wrong to say that people will never get excited about doing work k. doing work is mainly about fun and deriving fun from work is the nirvana of life i tell you. once you master that, you'll feel that life is much much much more than just being emo and stoning. =)
regarding yikai's post, i think its inevitable that people will start to get into new cliques and tend to neglect some of their old friends but this is also a time for everyone to get to know new friends, new contacts. you dont have to think too much into it. just take it as it is. always look on the bright side of life! =)
ya i agree that class bonding takes time but i guess we are already like 80% there , not considering those ki siao CT's who will just take out the quitar and start singing along loudly. our CT is more of the passive type even though we have about 80% of the class actively involved in sports. nevermind, slow and steady like the tomato. =)

Why is everyone feeling so down? ): It's just the second day of the second month, and it's really very early into the year, so I guess it's natural that some people are still not too used to the class and the idea of not having your ex-classmates/really awesome friends to be with anymore (me included), but 07S6A has so much more to offer than all those mundane things.
Look forward, not to the past, because the future is where you find the best things happening. If you keep forcing yourself to think that an event in the past was the best thing that would ever happen in your life, nothing in the future will ever satisfy you.
So. Hm. Keep your eyes (and heart!) open for new things happening, and you might will find that 07S6A is much much much more than your old class. Oh, and we're going to be here for the next two years, so we better learn to make and keep good relations now. (:

hello everyone! how're you all doing?
all of us must jia you, k? CNY banner materials, im gonna go get on monday, so we start painting next mon! (must try to be excited but really, who gets excited by more work...)
ya that's just about all the news i have, really.
now on to the crap-talking
i read jik's post and i became very self conscious, am i one of the 'seriously emo ones' he mentioned? sian -_- i tink i am. but i'm not emo, really. really.
I used to be loud, talkative, abrasive, arrogant, insensitive, unhumourous and attention-seeking, until even i started hating myself. So i changed abit over the holidays and changed my style of life... maybe i overdid abit? but reli, from my point of view, i'm only slightly more quiet ba.
I had a circle of close friends over sec 4. but we're all spread thin now and i dont know what to do. then i tot i could bond with my OG, but turns out we only get to spend 4 days in an OG, then we were all put back in CTs. I barely knew anyone in the CT so i closed up even more loh. My central doctrine was to shut my mouth and appear dumb, instead of opening it and removing all doubt. Will be more open in the future when we become closer, i promise. I'm trying quite hard to be more talkative, already.
huh, sorry for ranting so much. i let my old self comes back to me when i type stuff, because there's a backspace option to prevent rash words and i get an adrenaline rush.

i dint realised our class pigeon hole was really a pile of unnoticed forms and notices until mrs chiw asked me to go collect a form regarding the payment for the core modules (which was then again late...)
anyway at least our class is highly functional and we are going well with most of the stuff supposedly settled. its good to have your class in different CCAs as you can just hand them whatever form their respective CCA gave to the class and ask them to help hand them in during their CCA, even though when it is long overdue. :D erm the class stall is almost done except for the coro deal that we will be settling some time later. we'll try to get something special even though we dont have anything unique to offer. =)
no pics from me for now but i'll try to get some candid shots around the class. dont worry yikai you look great in the pic with xinyi, seriously. =)
